trying a few new things

Alright, I am considering doing Daily 5 for my literacy block next year. I have heard good and bad things about it. What's your take on it? I am afraid they are going to get tired of doing the same thing all the time. I'd love to hear from those who have loved it and those who didn't.

Also, a friend of mine from college (we went to Texas A&M, WHOOP!) has just started a blog and you have to check it out! She has lots of fun freebies and you need to go follow her. So get on it!

Her name is Casey Dawson and her blog title is "Keeping Up With the Kindergarteners". I love the show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" so her blog title just cracked me up! Can you just imagine all the "drama" that happens in the Kardashian family, it's the same in a kinder class!

CTP giveaway!

It's that time of year when all the giveaways are beginning. This must mean we are getting close to the beginning of school. Say it ain't so?!? Actually, if you're like me, you've been thinking about next year since umm the day after school was out? Yes, I know I have a problem. I honestly think my favorite time is the summer because I get to look back on the last year and think about everything I want to do different. This will be my fifth year of teaching and I STILL change things EVERY year!

Ok, back to the point of this post. Michelle at Fabulous in First is hosting a CTP giveaway! I LOVE CTP (creative teacher press). My entire class is their poppin' patterns. Take a look.

This is my calendar area from 2 years ago. It's changed a bit since then, but ALL of it is poppin' patterns.

Head over and enter! Click here! And if you win, I get part of the book set. Just kidding :)

long time no post

Hello fellow bloggers! I know it's been a long time. This summer has been so busy! I am meeting with my new team on Tuesday and I am so excited! Last year my team was made up of 4 women including me. My 3 teammates all moved on to new schools for this next year and I will miss them terribly, but the good news is I have a whole new team this year! We are a team of 5 including a co-worker from my previous 4th grade team. I have been BEGGING her to come join me in first and she finally did! I am so happy to be teaching with her again. Then we have a kinder teachers coming up to first. She is a ball of fun! Then we have two new teachers coming from outside of our school. I'm excited for new blood :)

We are getting together on Tuesday to talk "shop". I can't wait! I am going to be giving each of the teachers a "Recess bucket" How many times does a kid come up and have a boo boo? So here are my two questions:

1. Has anyone ever went to an entirely NEW team? Or stayed in the same grade (like me) and got a whole new team. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
2. Do you have something like a recess bucket? What do you put in it?
