HELP! I know I saw on one of the blogs I'm following a lesson on voice control (outside vs inside voices). Who's what it? I am in dire need. As you can tell, it's been "one of those" Mondays. Ugh!

report cards

We have been assessing like crazy at my school because report cards go home tomorrow. I love report card time because it really gets me back into tune individually with each of my kids, but at my school we do checklists (check if they've mastered the concept and asterisk if they are still developing it) and these checklists can be really tedious. So hooray for me. They are done and I'm going out for Mexican dinner tonight to celebrate. Here is a parent's report card I send home with every report card so that the parents can be making sure they are doing what they can to help their child succeed!!

And here is a fun freebie! We are working on reviewing for a math test next week and I wanted to review shapes in centers next week. Enjoy!

new signature!

Sorry for so many posts today. I am just loving working on my blog on this amazingly beautiful day!

question question question, help!

Alright ladies (and any gentlemen who are following me out there!) Here are the questions I have for you involving my blog. Here we go:

1. I have a 3 column background, but how do I make my blog look that way?
2. I want to make a sidebar of blogs I follow with their buttons. How?

I'm sure I will think of more and update when I do. Thank you for any help!

do you see a button?

Look at me I have a button :) I'm not as hopeless as I thought! I would love for you to add it to your blog. i promise I'm working on how to add buttons of blogs I follow to my own. Not there yet! Have a great weekend.

where did this week go?

So sorry for the absence from my blog. Monday began the first week with my student teacher who I absolutely LOVE! She and I are going to have a great 14 weeks together. She will be taking on teaching science next week. A fun subject, but the kicker is we teach it for the last 30 minutes of the day. EEK! :) Going to have to let her sink or swim so she can learn! I remember going through student teaching too.

I'm loving having her around because I have a student this year that needs lots of extra attention. I bet no one has one of those? ;) Anyways, he cries daily over everything, you name it and I bet he's cried about it. And not just a little boo hoo, it's a full on wailing to where the rest of the class is disrupted. And sometimes it can take a good 30 minutes to calm him down. Before my student teacher I couldn't take 30 minutes to calm him down, I had to teach! So I had to enlist the help of our principal, AP, or counselor. I am blessed with an amazing administration! So now I'm able to work with calming him down while she's with the rest of kids continuing their day. He is my own special project for the next 14 weeks.

We also had CoGAT testing this week. My poor babies were so tired by the end of the week. So we had a little Fun Friday and watched a little bit of Thumbelina. They needed some time to just relax!!

Our fun learning this week included working on solving a problem with our district's solving method, UPS check. U- understand, P- plan, S- solve, and check- check your work! I was so impressed with their strategy skills. We also did the Martin Luther King Jr. glyph that I got from Kimberly Edgerton. They turned out so cute! I can't wait to show a picture. They LOVED talking about Dr. King every day. They were just appalled with how people were treated because of their skin color. I love their sweet little hearts!!

Well it is late, and I want to start out my 3 day weekend right!! With lots of sleep!

We came up with a list for the ocean, lake, river, and pond. I made matching cards for us to sort together as a group. Then they made their own picture of one of the activities, definition of the water source the activity took place at, and a sentence of where and what they were doing. Enjoy!!

organization

Here is a big resolution for me at school, ORGANIZATION! Which to some people doesn't make sense because I am VERY organized. BUT for me to be sane these last months of school, I need to pick it up a notch. Especially because I am getting a student teacher and I want to teach her good habits and possibly win this AMAZING giveaway for a planner that I would help both her and I.

Head on over to Made for First Grade where they have teamed up for Erin Condren. This amazing planner is making me drool!! That's what an addicted organization person does :)
